“I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word, I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning.”

Observation
Waiting is something we are all accustomed to doing. We stand in lines for trains, ramen, or even rides at Disneyland. Sometimes, our waiting is for a special day, and we count down until the day finally arrives. We await answers or responses. Our lives are always about waiting. The Psalmist says his soul waits and hopes in the word of God. This Psalm is known as a Psalm of penitence. The psalmist comes to God, praying for his inequities to be forgiven, and his hope is in God’s Word, that His promises will be fulfilled. And like the sureness that morning will come, the psalmist awaits when God’s answer be. Do we have that kind of faith in God’s Word?
Application
We need to cultivate trust in God’s Word through praying through His Scripture and develop faith in God’s promises, not if they will come, but when they will come. It will take us being in His Word to allow it to speak to us. If we are not spending time in His Word, we are missing what He wants us to hear.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help us to wait patiently and trust in Your Word. May we find comfort and hope in Your promises, knowing that You are faithful and true. Help us to spend time in Your Word, listening and allowing it to guide our lives. Strengthen our faith and deepen our relationship with You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

観察
待つことは、私たち誰もが慣れ親しんでいることだ。電車やラーメン、あるいはディズニーランドの乗り物を待つ列に並ぶ。時には、特別な日を待ち望み、その日が来るまでカウントダウンをすることもある。答えや返事を待つ。私たちの人生は常に待ち続けている。詩篇の作者は、自分の魂は神の言葉を待ち望んでいると言う。この詩篇は悔悛の詩篇として知られている。詩篇の作者は、自分の不公平が赦されることを祈りながら神に向かい、神の約束が成就されることを神の言葉に期待している。そして、朝は必ず来るという確信のように、詩篇の作者は神の答えがいつ来るのかを待ち望んでいる。私たちは神の御言葉にそのような信仰を持っているだろうか？
適用
私たちは、神の聖句を通して祈ることを通して、神の御言葉への信頼を培い、神の約束が実現するかどうかではなく、いつ実現するかへの信仰を育む必要がある。御言葉が私たちに語りかけるためには、私たちが御言葉の中にいることが必要だ。もし私たちが神の御言葉の中で時間を過ごしていないなら、神が私たちに聞かせたいと願っておられることを見逃していることになる。
祈り
天の父なる神様、私たちが忍耐強く待ち、あなたの御言葉に信頼することができるようにしてください。あなたが忠実で真実であることを知り、あなたの約束に慰めと希望を見出すことができますように。みことばに耳を傾け、みことばが私たちの人生を導いてくださるよう助けてください。私たちの信仰を強め、あなたとの関係を深めてください。イエスの御名によって、アーメン。
