Scripture:
‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. ‘
Psalm 46:1 ESV
Observation:
The Psalmist writes this when the world seems to be crashing down upon us. The whole world is shaking and trembling, yet God is our refuge and strength. When my kids need help, they yell for me or Mommy. Every time they call for us, we respond to them and see what they need help with. Sometimes it is something trivial, like they need toilet paper. Or at other times, it may be because they are scared or feeling not too good.
The Psalmist tells us to call upon the LORD, for HE is right here with us. As one of the sons of Korah writes, “A very present help in trouble.” We are weak mortals whose life is but a breath. But though we are weak, we have an All-Powerful, Ever Present, All-Knowing Heavenly Father as our refuge. We need to let our minds and hearts be conscious of God’s Presence now and surrounding us and filling us. He is not a distant God. God doesn’t rest and take a break. He is always working things out for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28).
Application:
Pray and call out to God, for He does hear and is present with us! I need to stop thinking God is somewhere in heaven, with mountains of prayers and petitions about Him, that my own prayer would get lost in that heap. God is right now doing something! He is working and using the current situation, though it may be difficult and seem like things are crashing down around us. I am reminded to remember that God is here with me right now.
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you that you have never forgotten us. Thank you for being so patient. Thank you for always being there for us though mountains crumble into the sea. Thank you for being our refuge! Please help our eyes to see and our ears to hear, and our hearts to know that You are Present. We love you and ask of this in Your Name, Jesus! Amen!

観察：
詩篇の作者は、世界が私たちの上に崩れ落ちてくるような時に、このように書いている。全世界が揺れ動き、震えているのに、神は私たちの避けどころであり、力である。私の子供たちは助けが必要な時、私かママを呼んで叫ぶ。彼らが私たちを呼ぶたびに、私たちはそれに応え、彼らが何に助けを求めているのかを確認する。トイレットペーパーが必要だとか、些細なことであることもある。あるいは、怖がっていたり、気分があまりよくなかったりすることもある。
詩篇の作者は、主を呼び求めなさいと語っている。コラの息子の一人が書いているように、”困ったときには、主が力になってくださる”。私たちは弱い人間であり、その命は息に過ぎない。しかし、私たちは弱いが、私たちの避難所として、万能で、常に存在し、すべてを知っておられる天の父がおられる。私たちは、今、神の臨在が私たちを取り囲み、満たしていることを、心とマインドに意識させる必要がある。神は遠い神ではない。神は休んだり、お休みになったりなさらない。神を愛する者の益となるように、いつも働きかけておられるのです（ローマ8：28）。
適用しよう：
神は私たちの声を聞き、共にいてくださる！神が天国のどこかにいて、神についての祈りや願いが山のようにあって、自分の祈りはその山の中に埋もれてしまうと考えるのはやめよう。神は今、何かをしておられる！それは困難なことかもしれないし、私たちの周りで物事が崩れ落ちているように見えるかもしれないけれど。神は今、私と共にここにおられることを思い出す。
祈り
親愛なる天のお父様、あなたが私たちを決してお忘れにならないことを感謝します。忍耐強くいてくださってありがとうございます。山が崩れて海に沈んでも、いつも私たちのそばにいてくださってありがとうございます。私たちの避難所となってくださり、ありがとうございます！どうか私たちの目が見えるように、耳が聞こえるように、そして私たちの心があなたが存在してくださることを知ることができるように助けてください。私たちはあなたを愛し、イエスの御名によってお願いします！アーメン！
