When we choose to give our lives to Christ, it can be like Peter, stepping out into a new world, unknown, and often amidst the chaos that may be swirling around us. We can be passionate and excited as we take our first steps in discovering who Christ is and experiencing His salvation. However, as time goes on, we take our focus off of Jesus and our faith begins to sway back and forth because of the challenges we face in our lives.
The storm never moved Jesus. Jesus was not rocked nor was he struggling to stand amidst the turmoil going on around Him. Jesus never moved and kept his eye on Peter. Jesus did not walk off when
He saw Peter beginning to sink. He waited to see if Peter had the faith to continue to move forward. But as Peter sunk deeper, he cried out to Jesus, and Jesus saved him. I know I have focused on the storm around me and though I chose to follow Christ onto the water, I know there are times I have sunk but praise God! Jesus has saved me and never turned His back on me. He is the unshakable Rock! He is unwavering in the storms that surround us.
Application:
Keep Your Eyes on Him.
It is easier said than done. Jesus never said storms won’t appear when we become Christians, but He will be with us through them. When Peter took his eyes off of Jesus that is when he began to sink. We too, need to keep our eyes focused on Him. We can read through His Word daily, to see what He desires for us to hear. We also need to daily ground ourselves in prayer, making a connection with God. We also need to have fellowship with others so that we may receive support and encouragement to keep focused on Christ and to help others stay focused as well.

Dear God Almighty, in the name of Jesus I come before you. Thank you for your Son. Thank you for allowing us to be able to hold onto the Rock, the unshakeable One, Jesus even though we are still struggling in our faith. Help us to grow stronger in our faith.
