From Adam’s Fall to Christ’s Atonement
Scripture
For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ! Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people.
Romans 5:17-18 NIV
Observation
Adam was created as a perfect man by God.
While Eve ate the forbidden fruit first, Adam was the one who received the instruction from God, so he was holding the responsible.
Adam told Eve what God ordained and she repeated it to the serpent (Genesis 3:2)
After both sinned and were hiding from God, God called Adam, not Eve.
When God confronted Adam about his disobedience, Adam try to ran away of his responsibilities and give excuses about his own fault: *”The woman you put here with me — she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”* (Genesis 3:12).
– it is the woman’s fault.
– it is God’s fault
The woman learn and does the same: “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” (Genesis 3:13).
– it was the serpent’s fault.
And since then, humans are running away from the responsibilities that is given to us to own and to held accountant at.
Application
When Christ comes into the picture, he shows what Adam should have done instead, to take full responsibility from his and Eve’s fault.
Christ shows that a husband should be responsible for both.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.
Ephesians 5:25
What would have happened if the first Adam, have stand his ground and took the responsibility that God have given him and not ran away?
Certainly he would have died, because the consequence of sin is death, but wouldn’t we leave in a different world today?
A world where man face the challenges instead of run away, a world where man does not throw to the woman the responsibility that was given to him in the first place.
Christ showed us what a man should do. He broke the curse of sin, so we, free men, could act as Christ-like.
The practical application are:
– don’t blame others, but take the blame.
– don’t deny the personal responsibility but take the full responsibility of what God gave to you to be in-charged.
– don’t give excuses but confess.
While Adam ran away from his responsibilities after the sinned, Jesus took the responsibility to himself, facing the consequence of sin (death) that wasn’t his, so he would be the solution the world awaited for.
Prayer
Jesus, help me to be more like you, that does not ran away but ran towards the problems. Let me the head and priest of my house, taking full responsibility of what/who you in charged me for. In your name, I pray.
