Sharing is Caring

Scripture:

‘And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. ‘

Observation:

When we share things with others, it opens up communication and also allows others to bless and be blessed. We live in a society and age that we are driven by possessions. It seems we have money to pay for the “must-have’s” to live including the newest released mobile phone or computer. I admit that I have been more of a spender than a saver. It leads to having “things” to feel like I am living a satisfactory life. Perhaps, that is exactly what I have been influenced with by the current culture.

Whatever the case though, I have become alarmingly aware of all the things that I have accumulated over the years. Our once empty and full of storage house, has become cluttered with things. Therefore, packing for our move in March, is becoming so much more complicated. We had begun to ask ourselves, do we need this? Who can we give this to? Should I hold onto this or just throw it out?

Application:

Reading today’s scripture has stirred me to start giving away things more and looking for ways I can benefit others. With what I have, how can I bless others? Not only regarding time and money, but things. Throughout this moving process, I am looking at places and people that I could bless with things. Additionally, I need to start learning to live with less.

Prayer:

Dear God Almighty,

Thank you so much for this word this morning. I am grateful for what you have blessed me with and I want to bless others as well. I ask that you release my heart from holding onto possessions and to be more generous with things. Help me to also be frugal and a proper steward of your blessings. Help me to share with others so that I can help others in need. I ask of this in your Name, Jesus. Amen!
