“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.” Colossians 3:1-3 NIV
The first part of this chapter tells us the different life that now we live in comparison to the old life.
Things that we have put behind us and no longer is part of our attitudes, and that:
“and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.” Colossians 3:10 NIV
I think the challenge for every Christian is to live in this world without set our hearts in earthly things.
If we are not constantly feeding ourselves with God’s Word, we start to shift our hearts from heavenly to earthly things. We pursue not treasures in heavens but treasures on earth. We would give more importance, and invest more time into things on this earth, than on things above.
And I believe that the choice of setting our minds in heavenly things must be on purpose. It is a life decision we need to make, and stand by it.
A lot of things in our lives will try to shift that towards earthly things, but as we were raised with Christ, let’s set our hearts and minds in where he his, the above.
Heavenly Father. Help me to don’t set my heart into things from this earth but always seek things from above. May my life be a display of Christ in every value, decision, and attitude. In Jesus’s name, I pray.
