Mutual Encouragement

Scripture

“I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong— that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.” Romans 1:11-12 NIV

Observation

There are several reasons why gathering as a church is so important.

Paul sent a letter to the church in Rome telling them about his desire to go and see them, so:

  • Paul could bring some spiritual gift to help the growth of the church
  • Paul and the church could be mutually encourage by each other’s faith.

Application

It is important for us to be part of a Christian community.

When we participate with others in a church or a ministry, we are able to do these 2 things: bring our spiritual gifts to the table and help the spiritual growth of others and be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.

If somehow our paths brought us to be apart from it today, we are missing these, and it is time to go and reconnect to the community.

Every Christian has a unique gift that was given by the Holy Spirit. And this gift must be used not for your own sake, but for the growth of others.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you for my brothers and sisters that help me to grow and mutually we get encouraged by each other’s journey of faith. Help me to be an encouragement to others. In Jesus’ name, I pray.
