Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. The one who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘ From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’ ” John 7:37-38
Few things I notice here:
- We have a spiritual thirst that can only be satisfied when we drink Jesus.
- Come to Jesus and drink his means to believe in Jesus
- We will never get thirsty again because rivers of living water will flow from our bellies.
Jesus spoke the same thing to the Samaritan woman a few chapters before:
“but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never be thirsty; but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up to eternal life.” John 4:14
Jesus in our lives brings total and complete satisfaction to our souls, to the point that we will never need to search for any other source of satisfaction.
When we believe in Jesus for the first time, we don’t get just one cup of water to drink and satisfy us at that moment in time, but we get inside us a spring of living water, that overflows like a fountain that never ends.
And we don’t need to anywhere else to be satisfied, because he is the source of our satisfaction.
Jesus, my living water, my fountain of satisfaction. Thank you that I will never need to get thirsty again and I don’t need to look elsewhere to be satisfied, as I overflow from your living water inside me. Thank you.
