Judging Yourself

Scripture

“Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance? “

Romans 2:4 NIV

Observation

Paul takes judging very seriously. For when we are judging  others we are condemning ourselves.

Have we forgotten God’s kindness, His tolerance and patience towards us?

Application

It is from human nature to see other people fault and where they need to get better. But how often do we look into our own faults? The areas we need to be better… We will be surprised that we might be falling on the very same spot.

How can I deal with the attitude of judging others:

  1. See and follow God’s kindness. His kindness is to turn us away from sin.
  2. Instead of focusing on the fault areas of others, meditate and look to my own. Where am I failing? Where can I get better? What part of my character God is working on?

Prayer

Father, thank you for this Friday. As the rainy season starts pouring water on the dry land, let your Word do the same to our souls. In Jesus’ name, I pray.
