‘And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him. ‘

Observation:
It clearly states if we ask according to His will He hears us and will answer according to His will. We must come to God and spend time with Him to know His will. That also means God’s answers may not always be positive. The Bible will be clear about certain things about the will of God, but in others, the Bible does not clearly state. We can have confidence that our Father in Heaven does hear our prayers. However, we need to also remember all the things He has for us are for our good, not just to make us happy for the moment. This may mean we may have to suffer or go through pain. But even more importantly we need to trust in His Plans for us.
Application:
Buying our house was one of the times when my prayers were answered, but it was also a time when my wife and I as well as others, were in daily prayer. We never knew what God’s will was for us, of course, it wasn’t in the Bible nor was it being clearly told to me in plain text (I’m quite oblivious to certain things.) But through the process, drawing close to God was the most important thing we could have done.
We may make all these different kinds of plans, but the direction and outcome are the Lord’s. (Proverbs 16:9 summary mine.) Though we may ask in prayer the things in our heart, it is important to:
- Draw close to God. Seeking His guidance and also meditating on His Word. You are not making a deal with God, “If I do this and that, God, please bless me.” It doesn’t work that way, rather it is by spending time with Him will we began to understand His will and we can pray alongside it.
- Check your motives. Sometimes we may be asking with the wrong heart. The Bible tells us that our prayers aren’t answered because we ask with the wrong motives.
Prayer:
Dear God, Father in Here, thank you so much for hearing each of our prayers. We draw closer to You and ask that we come to know your will. Thank you for having plans for a hope and future for us. We ask that you help us to check our motives. We are so grateful that we can come before in prayer. We love you and ask of this in your name, Jesus. Amen!

私たちが神様の御心に従って求めるなら、神様は私たちを聞いてくださり、御心に従って答えてくださると明言されています。私たちは神様の御心を知るために、神様のところへ行き、神様と一緒に時間を過ごさなければなりません。それは、神様の答えがいつも肯定的であるとは限らないということでもあります。聖書は、神様の御心について、ある事柄は明らかにしますが、他の事柄については、聖書は明確に述べていません。私たちは、天の御父が私たちの祈りを聞いてくださるという確信を持つことができます。しかし、神様が私たちのために用意されたものはすべて、私たちの益となるものであり、単にその場しのぎの幸せのためではないことも忘れてはなりません。このことは、私たちが苦しみや痛みを経験しなければならないことを意味するかもしれません。しかし、それ以上に大切なことは、私たちに対する主の計画を信頼することです。
応用編
家を購入したことは、私の祈りが答えられた時の一つですが、私たち夫婦や他の人たちが毎日祈り続けた時でもありました。もちろん、聖書に書かれているわけでもなく、平易な文章ではっきりと語られているわけでもないので、神様の御心が何であるかはわかりませんでしたが（私はあることにかなり気づかないのです）、その過程を通して、神様に近づくことが最も重要なことだったのです。
私たちはいろいろな計画を立てるかもしれないが、その方向と結果は主のものである。(箴言16:9要約) 私たちは心の中のことを祈りで求めるかもしれませんが、それは重要なことなのです。
神に近づくこと。神の導きを求め、また神の言葉を黙想することです。もし私がこれとこれをしたら、神様、私を祝福してください」と神様と取引しているのではありません。そうではなく、神と一緒に過ごすことによって、神の御心を理解するようになり、それに沿って祈ることができるようになるのです。
自分の動機を確認する。時々、私たちは間違った心で祈っていることがあります。聖書は、私たちの祈りが答えられないのは、私たちが間違った動機でお願いしているからだと教えています。
祈り
神様、ここにおられる父なる神様、私たち一人一人の祈りを聞いてくださって本当にありがとうございます。私たちはあなたに近づき、あなたの御心を知ることができるようにお願いします。私たちのために希望と未来のための計画を立ててくださっていることを感謝します。私たちが自分の動機を確認することができるように助けてください。私たちが祈りの前に来ることができることを感謝します。あなたを愛し、イエス様の御名によってお願いします。アーメン!
