Great Joy

Scripture

“In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.” 1 Peter 1:6,7 NIV

Observation

The scripture teaches us that the suffering we face now and brings us sadness will only happen for a short while, because the great joy that we have overcomes it: the salvation that will be revealed to us in the end of times.

When we fix our eyes, not in what we can see, not in what we are going through now, but in Jesus, that even thou we don’t see him, we love and believe, we are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy.

He is the source of our life.

He is the source of our salvation.

He is the source of our joy.

Application

When the circumstances in life brings us suffering, pain and sadness, do not look towards those things. Instead, turn your eyes to Jesus, the author of our faith. These problems are part of the path that sharpens our faith.

He is our Living Hope.

Prayer

Jesus, thank you for brings me joy, even in times of troubles, I can still be firm in my love to you, in my faith in you. It is incomprehensible and inexplainable. You are my life, my salvation and my hope in this life. I thank you, in Jesus’ name.
