Observation
This is quite a convicting verse that God tells the “shepherds” of Israel. These shepherds were the kings and leaders of Israel, not only them but the spiritual leaders as well. God calls out their lack of care for the flock they were supposed to care for. Instead, these leaders took advantage of the people and did not care for them as God had commanded them to.
This verse is a warning to care for those under my care. As a spiritual leader, I am responsible for “feeding His sheep.” That means teaching God’s Word and encouraging those in need with what I can, including praying for them. I know I could do a better job of helping those under my care, not only in the church but especially caring for my family.
Application
I will take time to reflect on my actions and prioritize caring for those under my care. I will make a conscious effort to show love and care for my family and those in my church community. I will also strive to be a better teacher of God’s Word and pray for those who need it. This includes contacting people, spending time with them, and being more intentional with making time for others.
Prayer
Dear God, please help me to be a better shepherd to those under my care. Give me the strength and wisdom to show love and care to my family and those in my community. Help me to teach Your Word and pray for those in need. Thank You for Your guidance and love. In Your Name Jesus. Amen.
