His disciples answered, “But where in this remote place can anyone get enough bread to feed them?” “How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked. “Seven,” they replied. Mark 8:4, 5 NIV
Observation
I found this situation quite interesting because this is the second time when Jesus multiplied the food and fed thousands.
Here, Jesus shows his compassion and love for people, by telling his disciples that he didn’t want to send the people home hungry as they were.
His love to people raised a problem to be solved.
Maybe our initial thoughts would be “giving an idea” to Jesus, in how could that be solved: “Jesus, how about you do that thing that you did another day?”
But the interesting here is that none of the disciples came up with the solution on how to feed the people, even thou they knew Jesus could do it as he did before.
Instead of assuming that this was the solution, they asked back to Jesus: “how can we do it?”
Application
I think a lot of times we assume the solutions of the problems we face, based on the past experiences, or based on how God did before.
I learnt here that even the situation seems to be the same, we always have to come back to the Lord and ask his guidance for maybe, the same problem.
Prayer
Jesus, than you for this Friday. Help me to seek you in every situation, in every problem that raises, in every decision I need to make, not based on my knowledge, or my experiences of the past, but based on your guidance in my life. In Your name, I pray.
