We too will face things that our flesh desires. We face decisions to follow God’s will or our own. We may feel like lashing out at someone who has hurt us, but Jesus says, “Follow my lead.” We may want to do something that isn’t sinful but can lead us off-course with Christ, yet Jesus says, “Choose me.”
We cannot just choose to follow Christ when it is convenient and seek Him when things get rough. He desires that we follow His lead and seek to submit to God’s will. God will not force us to follow Him, but He gives us the ability to choose. However, those that choose to follow His Will, are going to see new levels of relationship with Him. Their character will deepen and get to know God’s purpose for their lives. They will become more sensitive to God’s leading and direction.
Application:
I know there are times where I have struggled with choosing between following God or my own desires. This word to me today tells me that I need to hold on and choose God’s Will. It is not an easy thing to do when my flesh screams out to do things my way. This is exactly what the sanctification process means. I am being made more like Christ as I follow His lead. Galatians 2:20 says, “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” It is no longer I who lives but it is Christ in me.
