Beyond Circumstances and Emotions

Topic: God is the same in all circumstances

You clothed me with skin and flesh, and you knit my bones and sinews together. You gave me life and showed me your unfailing love. My life was preserved by your care. “‘Yet your real motive— your true intent— was to watch me, and if I sinned, you would not forgive my guilt.”
— Job 10:11-14 NLT

We often are influenced by our circumstances that can alter our view of God. Job viewed God as a loving Father, but due to his situation and the pain he was in, His view reverted to God being only a cruel watchman, waiting to punish him when he messed up.Who could blame Job for wanting to make his heart known to God, since he had no knowledge of God’s intention. God is a patient god who can take our complaints, but He is also a just God who cannot stand for those who make false claims about Him. God desires us to share our feelings, questions, hurts, and worries with Him. But we are also to remember that God’s way are not our ways. Our circumstances and emotions will change but God will always remain the same. In Christ, our position with Him will never change. He loves us and is not out to destroy the work He so treasures, but to show us the how much He loves us.

I know I can let my emotions take me for a ride and I know that I can have my perspective askew because of my circumstance and feelings. I need to take this to heart and remember that God is for me and not against me (Romans 8:31). He will give me all things (Romans 8:32). God justifies us (Romans 8:33). We are no longer condemned (Romans 8:34). Nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8:35-39). I need to back up and remember the truth about God as spoken in Romans 8.

Dear Jesus, thank you so much for what you have done on the cross for all of us. Though we didn’t deserve it, you have loved us like a father does his children. Thank you for the truth and for being an unchanging God. Please burn these verses into my heart, head and hands, that I may never forget who you are especially, when things are not going well. I love you and I thank you so much Jesus! In Your Name, Jesus. Amen!
