Scripture
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 NIV
Observation
“When will Jesus return? Will he return in my time on Earth?” – I think this question comes to the thoughts of every Christian today, in the past, and reading this chapter, I can see it was also a question on the first churches.
Peter tells us that God is giving the answer that God is patient and he wants everyone to come to repentance.
Later he adds:
“Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.” 2 Peter 3:11-13 NIV
Application
What should I do while I wait for Jesus’ return?
- Live a holy and godly life.
- live looking forward to His return.
- speed its coming, by preaching the good news to every people, tribe, and nation.
Prayer
Father, thank you for your grace upon us. Thank you for your protection, your healing, and your miracles to us every day. May I live a life that awaits your return looking forward to the new heaven and new earth. In Jesus’ name, I pray.
