The miracle starts when we give what God has given to us

Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?” John 6:8-9

If anyone knew where to get food, it would have been Philip because he was from Bethsaida, a town about nine miles away (1: 44). The disciples are contrasted with the youngster who brought what he had. They certainly had more resources than the boy, but they knew they didn’t have enough, so they didn’t give anything at all. The boy gave what little he had, and it made all the difference. If we offer nothing to God, he will have nothing to use. But he can take what little we have and turn it into something great.

I too often don`t feel I have much to give, and that other people are much more gifted than I am. But the point is: God wants us to trust with what we have and not with what we don`t have. And when we trust God with what He has given to us, He can use it in ways which go beyond our imagination.

Lord, thank you for the gifts you have given to me. Help me to use them with a thankful heart! I except you to work through me today.
