Scripture:
‘Though we are overwhelmed by our sins, you forgive them all. What joy for those you choose to bring near, those who live in your holy courts. What festivities await us inside your holy Temple. ‘ Psalms 65:3-4 NLT
Observation:
What joy does one experience knowing that, though we may be overwhelmed by our sins and past mistakes, the Lord God Almighty, has forgiven us of all of them, because of what Jesus has done for us! Those that have been forgiven should be experiencing the joy of the Lord for He lives in His holy Temple, in us (2 Corinthians 6:16). Yet, we can lose this joy of knowing our sins are forgiven and that our God lives within us.
Application:
We can go through each day dulled and forgetful of the forgiveness we have been given. It is so easy to forget to repent and confess our sins before God. Though we have been forgiven, it is absolutely necessary for us to confess and be reconciled before God. It says in Luke 4:47, “I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.” Jesus tells the Pharisees this point about how much love is shown when much is forgiven. That is why it is vital to confess and repent. It shows our love for God. It shows how grateful we are for what Jesus has done for us. We will then experience the joy that the Psalmist writes about.
We need to repent daily. It should be that important like how we daily need to wash or even brush our teeth. Not one of us doesn’t need to repent. Romans 3:23 says, “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.” Asking the Father for cleansing and restoration will usher in the joy of knowing we have a close relationship with Him. It will also allow us to lead a forgiving life knowing we have been forgiven much.
Prayer:
Dear Jesus, thank you so much for your sacrifice upon the Cross for us. Thank you so much for your forgiveness of all of our sins. I come before You humbly, to ask for your forgiveness. Like King David, please search me and see what sins are hidden and unconfessed that I may bring them before you. Thank you again for being such a loving Father. I pray you forgive me as I forgive others who have sinned against me. Thank you for your restoration and healing. Thank you for your grace and love! I love you and ask of this in Your Name, Jesus. Amen!
