Our Limited Time

‘I said to him, “My lord, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. For this reason they are before the throne of God, and they serve Him day and night in His temple; and He who sits on the throne will spread His tabernacle over them. They will no longer hunger nor thirst, nor will the sun beat down on them, nor any scorching heat; for the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and will guide them to springs of the water of life; and God will wipe every tear from their eyes.”’

Revelation 7:14-17 NASB2020

We are here on earth for only a short period of time. My parents both passed away early before they were 60. While there are others that have passed away later in their 90s. Perhaps because I am getting older, I see that we just don’t have that much time here on this earth. Through today’s reading, it was revealed to me that we are learning to serve The Lord, on this planet in the limited amount of time we have here. For after the trials and tribulations we will go through, we will spend the rest of eternity before the throne of God serving Him.

I am told to wake up to see that what I am going through right now, what I am doing, is all in preparation for eternity. The time we are here is very limited, therefore we need to keep our eyes focused on Jesus, our works in accordance with our faith, and our words to share the gospel.

Today, I see that I need to let go of a lot of the worries that I am holding onto in my heart. These worries are driving me to fear and stress. The fear and stress take up more mental space than necessary. Jesus willing, with the time I have left on this earth, how am I going to spend it? Am I going to use it to worry and fret over meaningless things, or will I live it based on my faith in Christ? I choose to live it out in faith!

There are only about three more days left in 2022. I do not know what these remaining days will hold, and even more so, I don’t know what 2023 will have in store for me. All I can do is hold on to God’s promises and live these days out in faith in Him, and His Gospel and praises on my lips, with Him in the center of my life.

Lord God Almighty, thank you for your word to me this morning. As I read your  Word, help me to be more intentional about the time I have here. I have lived a life filled with worries and fear. I felt this past year went by with much of it stuck on worries. Please forgive me. All praise and glory to You, God Almighty, for giving us your Son, Jesus. I choose to put Him in the center of my days and choose to live my faith in You. I thank you for this past year of 2022. Thank you for all your blessings and mercy. I ask for your guidance, wisdom, peace, joy, love, and grace to be on me, my family, and Your Church in 2023. May all the praises and glory go to you, now and forever! In the matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen!
