Scripture:
“Jesus said, “You faithless and corrupt people! How long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.””
— Matthew 17:17“
“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.””
— Matthew 17:20
Observation:
Jesus rebuked the people more so focused on the Jews, who seemed to be more amazed of the power Satan had over the child. Rightly so, the sight of the child doing inhuman things would understandably cause fear. Yet, Jesus desired that they understand the power available to them through having faith.
We too, may be so overcome by the face of reality or the seemingly insurmountable struggle before us. Jesus commands us to have faith even to the size of a mustard seed. For even in the impossible because in the I Am, everything is possible. We must allow our faith in Christ to be bigger than what is before us. Our faith should outshine our fear.
Application:
I felt God saying to me that in Christ, there is no power that can overcome me. I need to not let fears freeze me in doubt. I also need to let my faith push me toward action.
Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, God Almighty. Thank you for your word to me and those who read this. Thank you for providing us with power that is overwhelmingly stronger than anything the enemy can do. Help to walk by walk and help my choices and action be evidence of my faith in You! I love you and ask of this in your name, Jesus. Amen!
