Love Builds Up

Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that “We all possess knowledge.” But knowledge puffs up while love builds up. ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭8‬:‭1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The discussing was if Christians were allowed to eat with pagans, because pagans would eat the food they offered to other gods. For some it was a shock and others knew that food had no power or effect to us.

Although their conscious didn’t condemn those who had this knowledge, others would stumble on the action of the more “knowledgeable” Christian.

What Paul teaches us in this case, that it is not about right or wrong, but about our actions towards others to be motivate by love, and not knowledge, because “knowledge puffs up while love builds up”.

Paul even go farther saying that

“Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause them to fall.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭8‬:‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

When knowledge is not applied in action of love, it has the power to destroy someone.

So, watch out so the knowledge won’t bring pride into my heart. Instead, humbly myself and my acts show love to others.

Graciously Father, thank you for showing your love towards me everyday, every moment. Help me to be a loving person who builds up people through my actions. In Jesus’ name, I pray.
