Scripture
“When he told his father as well as his brothers, his father rebuked him and said, ‘What is this dream you had? Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow down to the ground before you?’ His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the matter in mind.“
Genesis 37:10-11
Observation
Joseph had 2 dreams. One the first dream, his brothers interpreted as Joseph was intending to reign and rule over them. The second dream, his father interpreted that Joseph’s parents and siblings would all bow down before him.
But what calls me attention isn’t the dreams or interpretation themselves, but the behavior of those who listen to Joseph’s dream.
His brothers were jealous but the father kept the matter in mind. All of them found the dreams to be very strange. But Jacob tried to understand it. He took time to reflect about that dream.
Application
How many times, I get my own conclusion quickly. If something seems to be wrong, or that I cannot agree with it, I tend to decide quickly and just move forward.
Jacob teaches me that, it does not matter how crazy something looks like, or even if my heart isn’t in agreement with what is been said, instead of rush into decisions that pleases my heart, I need to take a step back, and reflect about it. Because maybe, there is something hidden that I cannot see.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to reflect more. Help me to be able to see what you are doing behind the scenes, and take my actions that moves forward together with you. In Jesus’ name, I pray.
