Good Soil

“Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.”” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭4:20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

In this famous parable spoken by Jesus, he illustrates the word of God is a seed that is planted in our hearts.

  1. Along the path: Satan takes away the WORD that was sown
  2. Rocky ground: the WORD has no roots, so when tribulation arises they fall.
  3. Among thorns: the worries of life, the riches, and the desire for other things choke the WORD, making it unfruitful.
  4. Good soil: produce a crop, 30x, 60x, 100x what was sown.

The WORD needs to produce fruits in our lives.

For that to happen, we need to allow God’s word to grow deep roots in our hearts. Those roots will keep us standing even when tribulation and persecution comes. Then when we decide to leave behind the worries this life brings, and not let the desires of having more things suffocate the WORD in our hearts. In this way, the WORD will produce a crop many times more than what was sown in the beginning and our life will be fruitful.

Father, thank you for this Friday. Let your word produce crops in my life every day. Help me to always prepare the soil of my heart to receive your word daily. In Jesus’ name, I pray.
