Scripture
“My son, be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.”
Proverbs 4:20-23 ESV
Observation
God’s Word brought us to life when we found them.
Before that, we were spiritually dead, sucked in our sins, with our kinds of brokenness and wounds all over our hearts.
He healed us and gave us life.
And to keep this new life following continually we need to:
- be attentive to His Word
- listen to what He is saying to us
- keep our focus on His Word
- keep His Word within our hearts
Application
“For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, even penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
Hebrews 4:12 ESV
God’s Word is alive. The Bible is not words written thousands of years ago without any relevance for us today. It is alive, active, and sharp.
It helps us judge our own thoughts, according to God’s words and not our feelings. It checks the intentions of our hearts and corrects them. It is tremendously important to keep God’s Word in our hearts.
God’s word guides our daily conduct, not from our perspective, but from God’s perspective.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to be attentive to Your Word, to listen to what you are saying to me through it, keep my focus on it, and guard it inside my heart. Guide my actions and thoughts, not from my perspective, but Yours. In Jesus’ name, I pray.
