Scripture:
In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. Hebrew 1:1-3
Observation:
Jesus is God and has always been here. God has always been speaking in many different ways to people. But Jesus is the most complete ‘Word’ from God.
Application:
God might speak to us through other people, films, music, books, or deep emotional experiences. However, whatever we believe God is saying to us must be tested against God’s revelation in Jesus. Only Jesus is the ‘exact representation of God’s being.’ Even if we sometimes feel that God isn’t personally speaking to us, let’s remember and be thankful that God has already spoken to us through Jesus in the clearest way possible.
Prayer:
Thank you, Lord, for having spoken to us through Jesus! Thank you that the clearest word we have from you is about deep sacrificial love. Keep transforming me today with your love. Amen.
