For the Common Good

”Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.” 1 Corinthians 12:7 NIV

God gives different gifts to every person in the church. Those gifts are the manifestation of the Spirit in our lives. This gift are given for the common good.

We represent the body of Christ, and as a body, each member has its own function. If a person tries to perform a function from another person in this body:

  1. we would not perform it well
  2. we would be taken the place designated to another person
  3. we would not be able to perform what we meant to do

“But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.” 1 Corinthians 12:18 NIV

The whole idea of Doing Church as a Team is for us all to understand “what is my part inside the body of Christ?” That the church won’t function well if all relies on the back on a few people or leaders. Knowing yourself, recognize the gifts God has given you, and manifest these gifts in our community is a must in order to be part of this body and to help to accomplish Jesus great commission.

Jesus, thank you for the manifestation of the Spirit through all kinds of gifts you gave to the church. Help me to focus on my gifts. Help me to don’t desire other person’s gifts but apply my own for the common good. Help others to find out how the Spirit is manifesting in their lives as well. In Jesus’ name, I pray.
