Scripture
Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!” Mark 1:35-37 NIV
Observation
Most of the time Jesus was surrounded by people. If not a crowd, his disciples.
I think a moment of solitude was very rare for him.
However, he find time to have his quiet time and pray, no matter how busy things were.
He got up earlier than sunrise and left the house to pray.
Application
Recently it is been a challenge to have quiet time.
It is a busy season at home, at work, at the ministry…
Even at home where the quiet times were more often, we are always busy with the kids, trying to support them in their growth.
The moment I wake up:
- make breakfast for the kids…
- prepare my daughter to go to kindergarten…
- start work…
And in the evenings:
- shower them…
- give them dinner…
- make them sleep…
I am sure I am not busier than Jesus 😂
I spoke to my brother a few weeks ago, and he told me of a book that he read: “The Miracle Morning”.
It is about creating habits that will change your life just by waking up earlier.
He started maybe about 2 years ago and he told me that after creating this habits, his routine became better, his work more focused, he was able to do devotions more regularly and had more quality time to spend with his family.
I should try to wake up earlier so that when the day’s routine starts, I am already ready.
Prayer
Jesus, thank you for the lessons you taught by speaking and also the lessons you taught us by how you lived. Help me to discover ways to live better, to be more productive and effective. In your name, I pray.
