Don’t Be Naive

“I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.”

Romans 16:17 NIV

Due to problems caused by certain people in the church in Rome, and the work of Satan to bring division in the body of Christ, Paul urge the church to guard the unity. They should avoid the people that were causing division. Paul wants to show us that the spirit of division comes from the sinful nature and a sign of a life in the flesh.Christians must learn to discern between reality and appearances. We must not be naive.

We try to see the good on people. But we often forget that there is an evil force against the church trying to crush us down. And a very effect weapon that Satan uses against us is: division. And Satan uses people to make that happen. He does not want to divide the church only, but he bring division in married couples and families. He tries to bring division into godly relationships, those relationships that make you grow as a believer. He tries to make us disappointed of our church leaders or others doing ministry with you.Sometimes, we realize too late, and the damage is already done.

  1. Watch out for those who cause division.
  2. Watch our for those who are doing false teaching.
  3. Learn to discern between reality and appearances.

Heavenly Father, thank you for this Friday. Help me to discern good from evil, reality and appearances. Help my actions to cause unity in the body of Christ. In Jesus’ name, I pray.
