Did God abandoned us?

“They did not conquer the land with their swords;
it was not their own strong arm that gave them victory.
It was your right hand and strong arm
and the blinding light from your face that helped them,
for you loved them.”

Psalm 44:3 NLT

This Psalm starts by remembering about the help the Lord had given them to conquer the lands and win the battles that fought.

They knew that all that happened because God loved them. On the verse 6 he says:

“I do not trust in my bow; I do not count on my sword to save me.”

Psalms 44:6 NLT

But the second half of this Psalm it shows that they feel rejected, abandoned and defeated.

Looking to the past experiences with God helps us to strengthen our faith.

As a believer, there will be times where I will feel tempted, afflicted, discouraged, abandoned… As a church, there will be times that we might feel persecuted to be a Christian. When these happen, like the Israelites, fear might come to our hearts, “Did God abandoned us?” “Is God not on my side anymore?”

“But now you have tossed us aside in dishonor. You no longer lead our armies to battle.”

Psalms 44:9 NLT

Matthew Henry’s Bible commentary says:

“But they should look above the instruments of their trouble, to God, well knowing that their worst enemies have no power against them, but what is permitted from above.”

Matthew Henry

Father, help to to look above what is given me troubles. Help me to look to you all times. Help me to understand that when the circumstances appears to be against me, You still there. You are always faithful. You are always with me. Thank you. In Jesus’ name, I pray.
