Scripture
O God, we have heard with our ears,
our fathers have told us,
what deeds you performed in their days,
in the days of old: Psalm 44:1 ESV
Observation
The Sons of Korah remind us of the importance of sharing what the Lord has done in our lives with the younger generation. The sons of Korah specifically spoke of the Exodus of the Israelites, who spoke of the glorious things Yahweh had done so the generations after would not forget. These stories were passed down to the generations to remember all the Lord has done and to continue to follow God.
We, too, although we share a different lineage (for me at least since I am considered a Gentile, but the son of of God through Jesus!) we, should also share our testimonies of what God has done in our lives. When we speak of what God has done in our lives, it can bring hope to our kids or generations after us. As we tell of miracles or deeds of the Lord in our lives, our kids will get an even greater picture of who the Lord is. Without it, they are left to figure out for themselves who God is, often reflecting upon what the world is teaching or any strong influence in their lives. Let us be a people that share our testimony of God’s mercy, His miracles, His deeds, and His hope in our lives that the younger generation will see not just a God who existed a long time ago but one that still works today.
Application
I think it would be crucial that I begin to share my praise reports of what God has done in my life with my family and also give them a chance to share what God is doing or has done as well. I need to open up more opportunities for this so we can all share in knowing what God is doing, how He is moving and shaping our lives.
Prayer
Dear Jesus,
Thank you so much for this day that I can be in Your Word and hear your voice. Thank you for speaking to me this morning about sharing our testimonies and praise for all You do in our lives with the younger generation. I pray for opportunities to share with the whole family, so we all can see and testify of Your work in our lives. Thank you for all you have done and are doing in our lives. We choose to proclaim how good You are! We love you and ask of this in Your Name, Jesus. Amen!
