Ready to Die

Scripture

12 When we heard this, we and the people there pleaded with Paul not to go up to Jerusalem. 13 Then Paul answered, “Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” 14 When he would not be dissuaded, we gave up and said, “The Lord’s will be done.”
Acts 21:12-14 NIV

Observation

The prophet Agabus told that Paul would go to prison.
Paul knew what was going to happen to him.
The people who care about him were trying to stop him in his journey.
But Paul was very clear by saying he was “willing to die” for the name of Jesus.

Application

How big of a challenge is to choose to run towards the suffering?
If it is just thinking on ourselves, of course, we would choose to not suffer.
But here Paul’s brings the reason for choosing to face the difficulties instead of running away from them.
If suffering was part of his journey of spread the Word of God, the good news about Jesus to the world, he was ready to follow that path.
We aren’t ready to face suffering if we don’t know the end goal.
But if we have the confidence that what we are doing for the Kingdom of God is extremely relevant, we would be ready to face anything at any time. All for the sake of Jesus name.

Prayer

Lord, to make your name known in the whole world is what you called us for. Help me to not ask the reasons of suffering when walking this journey, but let me focus on the bigger picture always. Let this confidence that Paul had be also my confidence while completing the calling that you have for me. Love you. In Jesus’ name, I pray.
