A New and Living Way

Scripture

**19** Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, **20** by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, **21** and since we have a great priest over the house of God, **22** let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
— Hebrews 10:19-21NIV

Observation

The chapter 9 and 10 gives us an explanation about how Jesus is the fulfillment of the Law, how the temples and sacrifices are just a representation of what is originally in heavens, and that, through sacrifices of bulls and goats cannot take away sins.
All those things acted as a reminder.
Until the time when Jesus came to become the perfect sacrifice, the one who entered heaven itself (not a sanctuary made with human hands) with his own blood (not goats and calves’ blood), for us to have eternal redemption.
So now, Jesus made the way for us to enter into the presence of God through His blood, not depending ourselves anymore of priests, but relying on the One who offered himself as a sacrifice for our sins to bring us eternal forgiveness.

Application

Once I heard a message from John Piper and he something like this: “if we would truly understand what Jesus did and the forgiveness that we received, we would be worshipping God in a total different way”.
When our “spiritual life” becomes a routine, we take it for granted. We go to service because it is Sunday. We serve at church because I am doing what I like. We do devotions just as to tick our check list.
But if we truly understand this verses and bring it to our hearts daily, we would be seen the world and be living in a total different way.

Prayer

Jesus, thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you that we can understand (but not fully comprehend) this plan to save us, to bring us back and reconnect us to our Father. Help me to remind this everyday, so I won’t live a mediocre life, but an life that praises God intentionally, in everything I do. In your name, I pray.
